Sera Baker, who attended the RFG Meeting at the British Museum this year has sent details of a new course being run online by the University of Oxford.

The course is Pompeii and the Cities of the Roman World and is run by the University of Oxford as part of their Continuing Education programme.

Sera writes:

“I thought perhaps this online course might be of interest to the other RFG members as start date in early May 2013 is planned to begin shortly, though there is a later September date planned as well. This is truly a bumper year for Pompeii and Herculaneum with the British Museum exhibition on!”

“This University of Oxford course is open to anyone who has an interest in Pompeii and ancient Rome regardless of experience and is accessible via online tutoring. You do not need to be student to enrol; it is open to everyone. Students can be anywhere in the world yet participate from their home in learning about everyday life, religion, politics, death and the preservation of Pompeii and Herculaneum. The course is accredited at 10 units of transferable credit at FHEQ Level 4 via CATS for use towards a degree (if desired) and a certificate is issued upon successful completion.”
